As a lifelong learner, I have a passion for gaining new skills and constantly improving my teaching methods to help each student grow to their full potential. I graduated from the College of St. Catherine in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Math. Since then I became an Orton Gillingham Reading Specialist, and have taken several STEM focused courses including teaching algebraic concepts in the elementary school. I have taught at Transfiguration Catholic School since 1978, first as the third grade teacher for five years, followed by substitute teaching and coming back in 1999 to teach second and then third grades.
I aim to create a respectful, kind, empathetic and collaborative environment where my students can grow in their faith. I center the classroom around my favorite Bible verse:
Therefore, whatever you want others to do for you, do also the same for them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
I love being part of the Transfiguration School family. It has been so gratifying to see the school transform over the past four decades while also staying true to its roots as a nurturing community with strong academic rigor and Catholic values.
Since I started at Transfiguration in 1978, I have enjoyed contributing to strides the school has taken in technology, environmental sustainability, library resources, and creating outdoor experiences through the prayer garden and wetlands, which have enabled a well-rounded, Catholic education for our students.
I love pulling my travel experiences into the classroom to help prepare students for the globally connected world we live in. The mobility of my family has given me the opportunity to travel globally with my husband, Gary, our daughters, Christina and Elena, and their husbands. I also love the outdoors, especially downhill skiing, riding my bike, golfing, and being on the water.
