Liturgical Music

Sacred Music at Transfiguration

Transfiguration’s music program is a central component of parish life. The music program contributes to the liturgical life of the parish by cultivating the Church’s rich inheritance of sacred chant, polyphony, and hymnody. The music program seeks to accomplish this mission through skillful and robust singing, both by the choirs and the congregation.

Parish Choir

The Parish Choir consists of volunteer singers and paid section leaders.

The choir offers music at approximately three 10:30 am Sunday Masses per month from September through May and other feasts and special liturgies. Rehearsals are held on Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Church during the choir season.

The choir’s repertoire consists of Gregorian chant (in Latin and English), polyphony, choral anthems, and hymnody.

While auditions are not required, volunteer members should be able to read music or learn music efficiently by ear.

If you are interested in joining the Parish Choir, please contact the parish office.

Festival Choir

The Parish Choir welcomes parishioners with singing experience to join a “Festival Choir” at Christmas and during Holy Week. This is an opportunity for parishioners who want to sing with the choir, but are unable to commit to the full season.

If you are interested in joining a Festival Choir, please contact the parish office.

Children’s Choir

The Children’s Choir will re-start with the 2022-2023 academic year. The choir is open to children in Grades 3–8 (high schoolers are invited to join the Adult Choir).

The choir offers music at approximately one 10:30 am Sunday Mass per month from September through May. Rehearsals are held approximately 2-3 times per month during the choir season.

The music program also hosts a summer choir camp for children.

If you are interested in enrolling your child in the Children’s Choir, please contact the parish office.
